Health Equity and Life Expectancy by Zip Code and Race/Ethnicity (Marion County, 2016)

Life expectancy and other health measures were used in this fact sheet to illustrate differences in health equity among Marion County residents. Life expectancy in Marion County has been stable since 2007 and is similar to that in Indiana and the U.S. overall, but differs within Marion County by both race and place. African American residents experienced a life expectancy of 73.7 years in 2016, compared to 78.3 years for white residents. The diabetes mortality rate among African Americans (39 per 100,000) was also higher than that of their white peers (25 per 100,000).
